Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Trollen
May 8th, 1949 - June 25th, 2025
Betty (Elizabeth) Ann Trollen passed away on June 25, 2025 at her home in Youngtown, AZ. She was 76 years old. Her sudden death was of natural causes. She was the wife of James Trollen. They shared 43 years together. Together they made memories of traveling by boat or RV, community involvement, family and friends, and the day to day routine of being a couple.
Betty was born in Wabasha, MN to Frances (Dick) and Edward Lager on May 8, 1949. After graduating from St. Felix High School in Wabasha she enlisted in the US Army for 4 years, stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. She attended Winona Tech earning a LPN degree. She worked at Health Care facilities in Wabasha, MN and Youngtown, AZ.
Betty is survived by her husband, James Trollen Sr.; child, Lance Holton; and grandchild, Leonardo Holton; sisters, Donna Richardson and Mary Simpson; brother, David Lager; stepsons, Tom Trollen, John Trollen, Dan Trollen, James Trollen Jr, and Pat Trollen; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Eva, Veda Trollen, and James McNeece; nieces and nephews, Lalena (Richardson) Blaschko, Benji Richardson, Josh Carrels, Hannah (Carrels) Regal, Duffer (Leroy) Slater, Amy (Lager) Mbanali and Emily (Lager) Hart. Predeceased by sister, Bonnie (Lager) Carrels; brother, Joseph Lager; parents, Fran and Ed Lager; and niece, Beverly Slater.
Betty will be remembered for her profound love for her family and friends but she had a special place in her heart for her grandson, Leonardo, who she loved sending gifts to. Secondly, her cats. She would say “Just watching my cats makes me happy”. Her four-legged companions (Miss Polly Boots and Lucy) have been rehomed to the family of Betty’s choice. Betty loved making cards and suncatchers which she often donated to the Women’s Shelter. There were several organizations that were the recipients of Betty’s generous nature. She helped to start the weekly “Craft Corner” in Youngtown bringing together people who enjoyed camaraderie while coloring, knitting or whatever craft an attendee desired. She loved putting puzzles together (as long as they weren’t more than 500 pieces) and will be missed by her weekly puzzle group.
Betty was an amazing person and had a remarkable life. She will be missed by all who were touched by her. A Memorial service will be held in Youngtown AZ on August 1, 2025 from 11am - 2pm at the Community Center. Another memorial service will be held in Wabasha, MN, date to be announced.
