Dennis John Mondt Sr., 74, of Rockledge, Florida, died May 30, 2025, in his home within weeks of his second cancer diagnosis.
Dennis was born March 22, 1951, the second of three children to Joseph Mondt, a World War II veteran, and Henrietta Mondt (nee Rakers), in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Frances Joan Suarez in 1972 and together, they had three sons.
Dennis, an avid sports fan who worked as a teenager at Busch Stadium, moved his young family to Florida in 1977 and, for the next 35 years, worked at Coca-Cola, Royal Crown Cola, Airborne Express and Canteen Vending Services before retiring in 2012.
After he and his wife divorced, Dennis raised his three boys as a single parent, spending his weekdays working long hours to pay the bills and his weekends barbecuing pork steaks and peeling potatoes for whichever of his children’s friends happened to come around the house that day.
Dennis was an accomplished pool player in his twenties and thirties, then picked up golf in his forties and fifties, and in his retirement, dedicated his time to learning how to become a modest but successful stock trader.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, JoAnn McDuffie (nee Mondt), and his ex-wife.
He is survived by his sister Phyllis Scally (nee Mondt), St. Charles, Missouri; his three sons, Dennis Mondt Jr. (Rockledge), Derek Mondt (Rockledge) and David Mondt (Las Vegas), and his granddaughters Shelby Mondt (Rockledge) and Rachel Mondt (Rockledge).
A memorial service will be held from 3-5 p.m. July 19 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive, Rockledge, Florida.
