Daniel "Danny" W. Owens
March 20th, 1953 - June 23rd, 2025
Rest in Peace, Danny. You are at peace and out of pain. You are so loved and will be so missed.
Daniel W. Owens, (Danny), at 72 years old, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025 at Harborview Medical Center, after a short illness.
Danny was born in Amarillo, Texas on March 20, 1953 to Robert and Unnur Owens. He lived in the U.S. and Iceland for most of his childhood, before settling with his family on Whidbey Island in Washington State.
In 1975, Danny married his best friend and life-long support, Gudrun Woods, (Susie Howard), and had two children (Crystal Keller and Daniel Owens Jr.) before starting his career in the U.S. Air Force.
Later in life, Danny shared a 40+ year relationship with his beloved partner Wayne McDonald, with whom he lived in California. There, he established a 25+ year career working for Bell Telephone Company before retiring to Port Orchard, WA.
Danny loved to collect things like “I Love Lucy” and “Marilyn Monroe” memorabilia. He spoiled and adored his pug dogs and had many throughout the years.
Danny leaves behind his children, Crystal (Tony) of IL, Danny Jr. of NC, grandchildren Maya of CT, Hannah of NC, and Breanna of NC. He also leaves behind siblings Jon Rosant (Kristin) of Denmark, Patricia Calver (Geoff) of England, Valarie Houk (Dan) of Port Orchard, WA, Dana Owens (Gayle) of Hoodsport, WA, Teresa Fraggetta, Robert Owens (Tracy), Neil Owens (Sharon), and Janine Pratt (Bob), all of Illinois. Danny will also be missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Danny is preceded in his death by his parents Unnur and Leo Melena, of Port Orchard, WA, Robert and Joan Owens of IL, and life partner Wayne, of Port Orchard, WA.
His family would like to thank Harborview Medical Center for their expert care and thoughtfulness towards our family during his stay.
Rest in Peace, Danny. You are at peace and out of pain. You are so loved and will be so missed.
As per Danny’s wishes, there will be no service.
