Merardo L. Alcon
April 9th, 1961 - June 24th, 2025
Merardo Lopez Alcon, age 64, of West Deptford, NJ was sent to his eternal home on June 24, 2025.
Mer, as he was affectionately known, was a man who approached life as an adventure and a puzzle waiting to be solved. He lived each day leaving no stone left unturned and no minute wasted. His journey on this earth was rich — one marked by love, intention, and unwavering faith in God.
Born in Roxas, Philippines, Mer emigrated to the United States in 2009. Prior to settling in the United States, he lived in Saudi Arabia where he met his wife Mary Ann and they decided to start a beautiful family together. Across all of the places he’s lived, Mer was a jack of all trades — computer engineer, biomedical technician, technology wiz, small business owner, and so much more. His hard work and drive remains unmatched.
Away from work, Mer was a family man — a loving husband, caring father, and a special friend. He was a devout Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus. Mer loved traveling, photography, and tinkering with new tools and gadgets. He immersed himself in new experiences and made sure to collect a hat from each place he would visit. He especially felt fulfilled when he was one with the Earth, gardening and tending to flowers, fruits, and vegetables til they blossomed. Above all, Mer took pride in his love for his family and constantly made their lives better by taking care of even the smallest details. He never gave up, no matter how hard things got and made sure to pass this lesson down to loved ones.
Those who knew Mer will remember him for his gigantic smile and loud chatter, his deep-rooted faith in God, and his steadfast commitment to making the lives of people around him better. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mer is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann Antonio Alcon, three beloved children, Jerico, Janine and Jazmine, and his brothers Russell and Percival. He will continue to be remembered by his extended family near and far, and the dear friends he has made.
The Celebration of Life service to honor Merardo Alcon will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 beginning with a viewing at 8:00am until 10:30am at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ, USA.
