In loving memory ...
Venetta Brown Chassereau, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on June 29, 2025 at The Legacy of Lexington surrounded by her family.
Venetta was born October 28, 1924 in Bishopville, SC to Chaney Reeves Brown and Almaree Boykin Brown. A member of “The Greatest Generation” (also known as the G.I. Generation), her 100 years of life spanned a remarkable period of history having witnessed the incredible changes that shaped our world. Her formative years were defined by The Great Depression where “waste not, want not” was the way of life. A God-fearing woman, her faith and family were her focus. Her love for the Lord guided her through life and was evident in the many lives she touched.
Venetta was a long-time member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church where she developed many life-long friendships. She enjoyed traveling with her church friends, and visiting places such as Israel, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Venetta was predeceased by her husband, James Herbert Chassereau, her parents, and her brother, Spencer Lee Brown, Sr. She is survived by daughter, Ann Smith, son, Jim Chassereau, granddaughter, Kimberly Smith, grandsons, Jarret Chassereau (Anna), and Jason Smith (Mindy), and great-grandchildren, McKennan Ward, Parker Ward, Colin Chassereau, Laynie Smith, and Connor Smith, and her sister, Elizabeth Barrett.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6 at 3:30 PM at Riverland Hills Baptist Church,201 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the church sanctuary.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 7 at 10:30 AM at Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, SC 29042.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Legacy of Lexington for their care, love and support as well as Agape Hospice Care for their compassionate care.
