Frankfort – Gary Wayne Whitis, 69, husband of Sandra Reading Whitis, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on August 11, 1955 to the late Virgil and Nora Bullock Whitis.
Gary was a Machinist for Bendix. He was a huge UK and Dallas Cowboy fan.
In addition to his wife “Sandy”, he is survived by his daughter, Dawn Whitis; his stepdaughter, Carrie Davis –Essadaoui (Tim); his stepson, Shawn Davis (Chrystal); his sister, Lisa Mays (Anthony); his grandchildren, Marcus Bradley, DeVontre Winkfield, Embry Baxter, Lahsen Essadaoui, Aaliyah Greene, Cole Rogers, Abbi Davis, Izzi Davis, Shawn Davis II, and Lily Davis; his great grandchildren, Elias Winkfield and Knox Bailey; and his beloved fur babies, Rascal Wayne and Pearly Mew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Grynch, Sue Kinsey, Joyce Howard, and Sharon Strong; and his brothers, Mike Whitis, Dennis Whitis, and Dusty Whitis.
A private gathering for family and friends will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrier Project or to the American Diabetes Association.
