Yoko Shaffer, 79, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. Born on April 8, 1946, in Okinawa, Japan, she brought warmth and vitality to every chapter of her life. A celebration of life will be held on July 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, 701 Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins, GA 31093.

Yoko made the United States her home and became an avid fan of Northside and UGA football.  She worked for twenty years at the Base Exchange before retiring to cook, garden and care for her grandsons.  Her home was a place of comfort and welcome—often centered around her kitchen, where she was renowned for her exceptional cooking. Her fried rice became a signature dish that delighted generations and brought people together around the table.

A seasoned gardener, Yoko found peace and purpose in tending to her plants. Her garden bloomed under her care, reflecting the same patience and dedication she gave to those around her.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, John, and daughter-in-law, Debbie; her daughter, Georgette, and Georgette’s partner, John David; and her cherished grandsons, Chase and Tanner. Yoko also shared many meaningful years with her partner, Sonny.

Her legacy lives on through the meals shared, the gardens grown, and the love she gave so freely. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

Please sign the online guest registry at www.heritagemfh.com and leave a personal condolence for the family.

Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory has the honor of being entrusted with the arrangements.
