“For I am convinced neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future… nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬-‭39‬

James A. Bennett passed away peacefully at home with family after a 5-year battle with prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife Jean, and children Trent, Luke and Amy. Jim was born in Minnesota on October 3rd, 1949, to Lawrence and Helen Bennett. He moved to Denver, Colorado with his parents, brother and sister at the age of 13 where he attended Catholic school. He graduated from Mullen High School in 1967 where he played football for the Mullen Mustangs. He then attended college at CSU where he studied business. He had multiple jobs post college including a bus driver for 17 years, and a fueler of planes for United Airlines.

Jim met his wife Jean while they were both 16 after being set up by mutual friends. After dating in college, they were married in Denver on August 5th, 1972 and remained married for 52 years. Jim was a Christian and strong believer in Jesus throughout adulthood. He enjoyed attending church and Bible Studies and learning about God and others. Some of his favorite times in older adulthood was volunteering with his wife Jean in children’s ministry at their local church. He often boldly shared his faith with strangers and enjoyed ministering downtown by feeding and talking with the homeless living in Denver. Jim had many hobbies that he enjoyed including chess, fishing, building model railroads and PC gaming. Tying his own flies was a large part of his fly-fishing hobby. Jim was a football fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Denver Broncos. He loved traveling, reading and spending time with his family.

Jim will be greatly missed by loved ones, and there is peace knowing he is in heaven with Jesus. Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and condolences during this time.
