"I'm just a plain ole country boy"
Garrett Arthur Harkness
March 8, 1953 – June 25, 2025 Garrett Arthur Harkness, 72, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, and will be missed deeply by his loved ones. Born on March 8, 1953, in Romulus, New York, Garrett lived a life of service, strength, and quiet faith. He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the Army National Guard, and later dedicated many years of his life working at Lieber Correctional Institute, where he earned the respect of his colleagues and community alike. Garrett was a man of many passions. He found great joy in music and was often found with a guitar in hand, playing both for pleasure and as a way to connect with those around him. Another of his cherished pastimes was building and flying remote-controlled airplanes—a hobby that reflected his attention to detail and his love of flight and freedom. Above all, Garrett was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Harkness; his daughter, Katie Harkness; his son, Wallace Harkness; and his grandsons, Gabriel and Gideon Harkness, who brought him immense pride and joy. Garrett's life was marked by humility, strength, and unwavering faith in God. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family he so dearly loved. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, July 12th at Harbour Lake Baptist Church in Goose Creek SC, where friends and family will gather to honor his life and celebrate the hope we have in eternal life through Christ.
