Jimmie Joe Johnson
August 23rd, 1933 - July 1st, 2025
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Jimmie Joe Johnson passed away peacefully in Meridian, Idaho at the age of 91. He was born on August 23, 1933 in Claunch, New Mexico. Jimmie graduated from Castle Rock High School in 1951 and soon after joined the U.S. military.
He proudly served in the 62nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from February 1952 to March 1956. During a brief military leave, he met the love of his life, MaryAnn at a bus station in Portland, Oregon. Their love blossomed through letters and visits, and they were married on September 17, 1955. They went on to share nearly 70 years of marriage.
After his military service, Jimmie worked in the logging industry for about a year before beginning a long and fulfilling career as an Instrument Technician at Flightcraft International. He worked there faithfully until he retired in 1998 after 42 years. He was known as a hardworking and loyal man, deeply committed to his work and family.
Jim and MaryAnn raised four children together. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and was later promoted to great-grandfather of 39. Jim had a special bond with each of them, always ready to sing, tell stories, magic tricks, and share his endless supply of jokes and warmth. He truly cherished time with his family.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting, fishing, crabbing, & clam digging. He was passionate about sharing his love & skills of the great outdoors with family and friends. He was an instructor of the hunter safety course and enjoyed teaching young people the safety and skills of handling firearms.
Jim also enjoyed planting and raising a vegetable garden and took great pride in sharing his vegetable bounty with everyone he came in contact with.
Above all, Jim was a man of deep faith. He gave his heart to Jesus Christ at a young age and lived with unwavering devotion to his Savior. He served his church faithfully in many roles, including as a deacon and as a leader in the Royal Rangers program, mentoring young boys. His legacy of love, service, and faith will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Rod Johnson (Penny), Linnea Worden (Randy), Rennea Kimmel (Daryl), Jennea Rowell (Loren). Also, 13 grandchildren & their
spouses, 39 great-grandchildren, 3 sister-in-law’s, and numerous nephews & nieces.
