In her own words, Connie “lived a full and rewarding life surrounded by family and friends.”
Constance “Connie” May Holland, born May 23, 1942, in Tacoma, Washington passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A lifelong resident of Tacoma, Connie attended Stadium High School and graduated from Wilson High School in 1960. She raised a family, and built a life rooted in care and community in Tacoma. She held a variety of jobs throughout her life including working at a laundromat, in the garden centers at Pay ‘n Pak and Ernst, and ultimately as a caregiver for DSHS. No matter the role, Connie was known for her compassion and generosity. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer support, or give a ride to family and friends in need.
Connie had a deep love for games, and holidays were always a lively gathering of laughter at Grandma’s house. She was an avid gardener, lovingly tending to her yard year-round and filling it with vibrant, beautiful flowers and plants.
She is survived by her four children: Brenda McCloud, Dean McCloud (May), Lisa Hilligoss (Shawn), and Greg McCloud (Amy); six grandchildren: Johnathan McCloud, Brett Hilligoss, Gavin Hilligoss, Cassidy McCloud, Caitlyn McCloud, Autumn McCloud; and one great-grandchild, Jaxson Hilligoss.
In her own words, Connie “lived a full and rewarding life surrounded by family and friends.”
A celebration of life will be held in her honor on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall on N. 47th and Baltimore.
