Alan Lee Nelson
July 9th, 1945 - July 5th, 2025
Alan Lee Nelson passed away on July 5th, 2025, at his home at the age of 79.
Al was born July 9th, 1945, in Williston, North Dakota, to Carl B. Nelson and Dorthy A. (Anderson) Nelson.
He married Barbara (Trupp) Nelson in Greeley, Colorado, on November 22nd, 1969, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
He started his career in construction as a heavy equipment operator, working as a blade hand. Later, he became a foreman and led his own crew.
Al began working for Goodell Brothers and retired from Roberts Excavating. For the last seven years, he worked with his son, Michael, and younger brother, David.
After retirement, he became a babysitter for all four of his grandchildren, which meant the world to him. Later on, great-grandchildren became the focal point of attention for Al.
Al enjoyed gardening, reading Louis L'Amour, and fishing with his brother in Laramie, Wyoming.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dorthy Nelson; in-laws, Fred and Edna Trupp; his son, Michael Nelson; and his brother, William Nelson.
Alan is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Rebecca (Steve) Rink; grandchildren, Megan Rink (Ryan Kessler), William Rink, Michaela Nelson (Cody Ash), Timothy Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Lilly Ann and Hunter Allen Ash of Greeley, Colorado. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Bravard of Fayetteville, Arkansas; brother, David (Chris) Nelson of Laramie, Wyoming; and sister-in-law, Maxine Nelson of Williston, North Dakota.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held on July 15th, 2025, at 11 AM at Adamson’s Life Celebration Home located at 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO, 80634.
Donations can be made in Alan’s memory to the NOCO Humane located at 1620 42nd Street, Evans, CO, 80620.
