Connie Camp May 30, 1944 – June 7, 2025

My dear wife and greatest treasure passed Monday, July 7, from this life into Glory and into the arms of the Lord and Savior she loved.

Connie was a simple unassuming woman who did extraordinary things. God gave her the gifts of service and compassion, and from a very early age she used those gifts to God’s glory. She knew that nursing was where she wanted to go. She worked hard to pay for nurses’ training, and she was an extraordinary nurse for over fifty years. She was on the open-heart team at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, an operating room nurse and cardiac care in Lebanon, Oregon, a recovery nurse in LaGrande Oregon, and a school nurse at Cosmopolis, Washington. She loved nursing and helping people heal.

When we went to Cove, Oregon, to serve a small congregation at a rural church, she turned her gifts to loving and serving the people of Cove. And what a 12 years we had there!

When her parents reached the age that they needed help, we pulled up stakes and gave up our careers to spend five years caring for them, though even then she found time to serve as a school nurse and in an extended care home as well.

One of the more challenging assignments was to be the only nurse for a group of 300 high school girls on a two-week mission trip to Brazil. She followed the girls into the garbage dump community in Rio and the gang ruled barrios and the orphanages. In every place she loved people.

But her hardest assignment was to love me. And she was magnificent at it. God blessed us with four daughters, two died before birth and two, Kim Bradshaw and Leslie Weightman, survive her along with a son-in-law Steve and a grandson Micah. They were both at her bedside when she passed into glory. And I too. Tears, yes, but praise. God gave her what we asked, a quiet and tender passing and his wonderful presence in a song,

“O Love that wilt not let me go. I rest my weary soul in thee.”

She was tired at the end. She is now at peace.
