Betty Lucille Pickering

Betty Lucille Pickering, age 89, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Xenia to Loren and Ruby Bogan, Betty was their only child.

She graduated from Spring Valley High School in Spring Valley, Ohio, where she met her high school sweetheart, Roger Pickering. The two married in 1954 and shared 67 devoted years together before Roger’s passing in 2022.

Betty had a gift for making a house a home. She was a talented cook and a skilled seamstress, even sewing new dresses for her daughter Bonnie from her own old ones. She loved to dance in her early years and always looked forward to lively games of UNO. Shopping brought her great joy, especially when browsing QVC for her favorite finds.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger and her parents Loren and Ruby Bogan.

She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Ryan and her husband Dan, and her son Dan Pickering and his wife Teresa. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jennifer Ryan, Heather Ryan, Amanda Gerber, and Chad Gerber, great-grandchildren: Lucas, Michael, Karlee, and Katelinn and great great-grandson Ryker. She also leaves behind cousins Debby, Cindy, and Bart, who were dear to her.

Betty will be remembered for her kind heart, creative spirit, and the love she poured into her family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
