Rosalind M. Acquilla
January 29th, 1941 - July 1st, 2025
Mrs. Rosalind M. Acquilla, age 84, passed away July 1, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born January 29, 1941 in Gloversville, the daughter of Nettie Winchell Bornt and Ronald Bornt. She graduated from Broadalbin Central High School in 1958. Working numerous jobs well into and after retirement from Fulton County in 2003.
Full of zest for life, she has various interests. Starting when she was young she had an enduring love for dancing, which lasted for at least 60 years. She could be found anywhere she could find a live band. Horseback riding was also a love of hers.
Being both mom and dad to her two beloved sons, Jeff and Jim, the true loves of her life. She acquired her motorcycle and rode with them for a long time. She was membership secretary to the Fulton-Montgomery Chapter of ABATE.
When she grew older her interest went to antique cars. Upon her fother's death she gained his 29 Modal A Ford coupe and served as secretary of the Fulton County Antique Car Club for sometime.
She was also a member of the Ephratah Rod and Gun.
She then joined a singing group of ladies known as the Dream Catchers, who performed locally in the nursing homes, etc.
Picking up her old guitar that she had as a child, while having little time to learn when young, she decided to play and sing in open mics, which she enjoyed to the fullest.
She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey M. Whitehouse, her husband, Ralph Acquilla, her parents, Nettie Dickenson and Ronald Bornt and a brother Joseph Dickenson and sister Barbara Rhodes.
Rosalind is survived by her son, James Bornt (Georgette), daughter-in-law, Sanne Whitehouse, Sister, Sandra Jackson (Robert), sister-in-law, Nancy Dickenson Morey (Simone) and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews and a great niece.
Funeral services for Rosalind will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Grace Lutheran Church, 1 W Montgomery St., Johnstown, NY 12095, with the Pastor Roger Behrens officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Grace Lutheran Church, 1 Montgomery Street, Johnstown, New York 12095
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral home 51 Freemont Street, Gloversville, NY
