Philip Edward Giard

Chicopee - Philip E. Giard passed away on July 10, 2025 at the age of 78. He was born on July 12, 1946 in Springfield MA.  Philip was the son of Joffre R. and Madeline F. (Meuse) Giard who predeceased him. He spent his formative years in Springfield until he moved to Chicopee where he resided for the last 22 years.   A graduate of Cathedral High School, Philip furthered his education earning a bachelor's degree from American International College.  Early in his career, he worked the in the field of marketing in both Chicago and New York before returning to Massachusetts to retire as a supervisor at the bulk mail center of the United States Post Office.   Philip was an avid golfer and a former member of the Ledges Golf Club.  He also enjoyed fishing and sitting quietly with a good book.  He liked going to the Patriots games with family members, and especially enjoyed the family reunions at Hampton Beach.   Philip is survived by his sister Mary-Jane Davis and her husband Marc of South Hadley, his nephew Timothy and his wife Erin and great-nieces Bailey and Cassidy of Agawam. Philip will also be missed by his good friends Mary and Stan.   A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home followed by a service at 12:00 PM.  Philip will be laid to rest in St. Rose Cemetery South Hadley.   Honoring Philip's love of animals and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Dakin Animal Shelter in Springfield.
