Gloria McCauley Obituary
Gloria (Glory) Jean Griebel McCauley died at age 76 on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at home in Tucson, Arizona after a long battle with vascular dementia. Glory was born on April 6, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Jack Edward Griebel and Norma Virginia McCoy Griebel. She was one of three children. She was a 1967 graduate of South Side High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended Broome Community College in Binghamton, New York.
In 1968 Glory married John McCauley who was the boy next door, and her best friend. At the time of her death, they had been married for 57 years.
Glory was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Ray Light. Glory is survived by her husband John McCauley, son John Michael McCauley, daughter Cynthia Kristine Stewart (Bruce Stewart), brother Steve Griebel (Susan Crooks Griebel), sister Debi Griebel Light (Ray Light), grandchildren Adrienne Tetla, Joseph Alexander McCauley, Randen Francisco McCauley, John Michael McCauley Jr, Finnigan Chancy McCauley.
Growing up in the 1960s, Glory was an avid rock and roll fan. She attended many rock concerts, but her favorite singer was Neil Diamond. She shared her passion for music with her kids and grandkids. Even in the advanced stages of her dementia, she still knew the words to all her favorite songs.
Glory was an exceptional cook with an extensive number of recipes. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved hosting parties for her family on all major holidays. Halloween was her favorite holiday to celebrate.
Glory was also a very good decorator. She planned a major remodeling of her home. The general contractor was very impressed with her skill. Many others would ask her for advice on decorating.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She would pick up the grandkids after school and take them to her house where she would teach them how to cook and clean and then play card and board games with them. In the summertime she would have the grandkids over for Grandma Summer School. She took great pleasure in taking the grandkids on family vacations.
Her family will carry her memory forward with enduring love.
