Cleveland Johns, a beloved husband, father, Paw and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in Georgia. Born on September 20, 1937, in Georgia, he was the proud son of Oscar Johns and Emma Young Johns, who preceded him in death. Cleveland was also preceded in death by eight siblings, leaving a legacy of love and support for his immediate family.  

 

He is survived by his devoted wife, Arlene Long, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and warmth. He is also remembered fondly by his children, Kimberly Brown (Tommy), Tim Johns (Leslie), Leslie Harden (Sam), Joshua Johns (Ashley), and Trent Simmons (Danielle) as well as a sister, Dorothy Gray, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of family and friends who were touched by his kindness and humor.  

 

Cleveland's education journey came to an early conclusion when he completed the third grade, but his commitment to supporting his family was unwavering as he took on responsibilities at a young age. He dedicated his life to his career as the owner and operator of businesses, Bibb Well Drilling and Leisure Park Mud Racing. His work was a testament to his strong work ethic and unwavering honesty, qualities that defined his character.  Cleveland was known for his loyalty, honesty, and a delightful sense of humor. These traits were the bedrock of his relationships, endearing him to all who knew him. His ability to bring laughter into everyday moments was a gift that will be sorely missed.  

 

Cleveland Johns leaves behind a rich legacy of love and integrity. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he cherished. He will be remembered with fondness and gratitude for the life he lived and the example he set.   

 

A visitation for friends and family will be held at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place in the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Tommy Odum. Following the service, Cleveland will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will continue to watch over his loved ones.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers you can make donations to Brightmoor Hospice on Arkwright Landing in Macon. The funeral reception will be held at the residence of Cleveland and Arlene after graveside service has concluded.
