Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Robert Wendell Umbaugh
November 18th, 1944 - July 4th, 2025
Robert Wendell Umbaugh, 81, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away the evening of July 4, 2025, in Caldwell, Idaho.
He has crawled up in his truck today and headed for his last long haul run to the stars and beyond.
Robert was born November 18, 1944, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. He spent most of his life in Arkansas and Missouri. He moved to West Bend, Wisconsin, and that's where he found his sweetheart, Barbara Umbaugh (Ertl) and they have been together for over 50 years. Later on, they moved to Idaho where he resided at his time of death.
When Robert wasn't doing his passion of truck driving, you could find him fishing, hunting, listening to old country music, watching old westerns, watching the little rascals, helping others, and pulling on puppies' ears. He was a hard worker, a loving soul, stubborn character, hilarious, determined, thrifty, had perseverance, and was thoughtful.
He is survived by his siblings, Dian Moore and Cleveland Umbaugh; children: Mike (Gail) Umbaugh, Brian (Melissa) Umbaugh, step-son, Randy (Becky) Kertscher, step-daughter, Lisa (Ralph) Schmidt, and daughter-in-law, Lori Umbaugh; grandchildren: Brittany (Micheal) Lossing, Jessica (Colton) Antrim, Kaylee (Shayne) Miller, Calista Umbaugh, Christian (Maryanna) Umbaugh, Allison (Josiah) Pierringer, Courtney (AJ) Schmidt, Chanse (Sydney) Umbaugh, Heather (Billy) Eme, Mary Galaska; all 11 of his great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Winnie.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Wendell Umbaugh; his son, Steven Umbaugh; and his brother, Clarence (Clancy) Umbaugh.
A memorial service will be held to remember Robert Wendell Umbaugh on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 6:00 pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
