Richard was born on Feb 4th, 1943, in Los Angeles County California to Kenneth and Marie Foltz. He grew up as the middle child with his brother Kenny who was 2 years his senior, and Timothy who was 9.5 years his junior. He had a love for cars. He drove a 1961 Austin Heeley. He served an LDS mission to Chilie from 1964-1966. He then served in the Army in 1966-1969 during the Vietnam War. After exiting the military, he rode a Yamaha 350 Scrambler from Boston back home to California. He then moved to Utah where he attended college and danced on the BYU ballroom dance team. His college roommate was dating a young woman and through them, he met Lorraine. On a trip home with his girlfriend to meet his parents, Richard asked her to wait for him while he toured with the dance team. Without any formal ties, she declined. He scooped her up and placed her on a low branch of his family's walnut tree and made her wait there while he went in the house to pray. When he came back, he asked her to marry him and wouldn't let her down until she agreed to be his fiancé. On June 12th, 1970, at the age of 27, Richard and Lorraine were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He and his wife raised 11 children together. He will be remembered for his wavy hair & charming smile. He loved to dance and sing and teach his children songs for road trips and talent shows. He was very athletic and loved basketball, hunting, playing golf and collecting marbles. He could play the clarinet and would often strum on his guitar. He was dedicated to the Lord. He prioritized & cherished his family. He loved this country and served those around him. He will forever be in our hearts.
