William James Kelly, 82, a long-time resident of Woodbury Heights, NJ passed away at Cooper University Hospital after a short illness.  

 

Born in Philadelphia, Bill has been a resident of Woodbury Heights since 1980. Bill was a SeaBee that served during the Vietnam Conflict with MCB10 at Chu Lai.   He was first employed with Wilkie Buick in Philadelphia, in the Body and Fender Department.  He was then employed as a laborer for the Borough of Woodbury Heights until retirement in 2005.  

 

In his retirement, he was a member of the Maurice River Sportsman Club with his best friend Steve Mower and enjoyed following the Phillies and Eagles with his neighbor Nick Morro. 

 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa (nee Lewis), his devoted daughter and her husband Theresa and Matthew Marcasciano, and their son, Luke who he loved dearly and was so proud to be his Pops.  Bill is also survived by his In-Laws, Mary Lou and Louis Walchak, Charles Lewis and Laura Jordan, and sister-in-law Linda Lewis; as well as his extended family of nieces and nephews, Cathy and Bart Benson, Patty and Jim McGory, Kathleen and Craig Connor, Ruth and Boyce Kemper and Michael Smith (the late Colleen), Jim and Lori Leimer, Samantha and Michael Grinstead, and Julia and Jacob Shames, Matt Lewis, and Stephanie and Issac Gonzalez; he is also survived by great-nieces and nephews and Sadie the Dog.   

 

Bill is predeceased by his parents, William and Eleanor (McGuigan) Kelly, his siblings, Eleanor and William “Ski” Kusinska, Catherine and Bill Leimer and Ruth and Harry Smith.  He is also predeceased by his Brother-in-Law, Larry Lewis and his nephew Leo Smith.   

 

Funeral Services for Bill will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 am at the Welcome Center in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 240 N. Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown.  Family and friends may begin to gather at 10:30am at the Welcome Center.  

 

In lieu of flowers, the family simply requests that we acknowledge a Veteran.  Bill proudly spent many years of his life keeping our great country safe and in honor of him, the next time you see a Veteran, like Bill, thank them for their service.
