Kathryn A. (Schmidt) Vogel

Kathryn A. (Schmidt) Vogel, 84, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on October 17, 1940, the oldest of five children to Lester and Anna (Plier) Schmidt.

Kathryn graduated in 1958 from Saint Mary’s Academy in Milwaukee. She married Arnold C. Vogel on October 18, 1958, the first couple to get married in the Saint Coletta Chapel.

She was a member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers and the church choir. She was on the original steering committee for the founding of Rainbow Hospice.

While in high school, Kathryn worked at the Bon Ton Bakery. She also worked at Saint Colletta School as a caregiver. Kathryn’s favorite and most important position was held as that of a homemaker, raising her seven children.

Creating home-cooked meals for her family, traveling with her younger sisters, and enjoying time with her grandchildren were some of her most cherished activities.

Kathryn is survived by her children: Paul (Marianne), Barb Gang (Chris), Mark (Sue), Allan (Margaret), Donna Standlee (Norman), and Elizabeth. She is also survived by her five grandsons and six granddaughters; seven great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters. She is further survived by her siblings: Dick (Maryfran) Schmidt, Carolyn Niebler, Margie (Gary) Buelow, Charlie (Karen) Schmidt, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Dale; grandson, Jordan; and granddaughter, Natalie.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Reena Senior Living and to Rainbow Hospice for the compassionate care Kathryn received.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Jordan Vogel Memorial/JCF or to Rainbow Hospice.

Visitation for Kathryn will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, W4875 US-18, Jefferson, WI 53549. Mass will begin at 5:00 PM at the church. A private burial will take place at the Saint Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery.
