Nellie Mae Cockerham
March 23rd, 1948 - July 12th, 2025
Nellie Mae (McBride) Cockerham – 77, Kernersville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 12, 2025.
She was born in Thomasville, North Carolina on March 23, 1948, to the late Boyd McBride and Dorothy Lemons.
Nellie was a member of Kernersville Wesleyan Church for 35 years. She enjoyed shopping and going to the beach with her family. Nellie worked for UniFirst for 20 + years before retiring in 2017.
In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded by her daughter, Angela West, and her grandson, Erick West.
Left to cherish her memory are her longtime companion, Donnie Redmon; daughter, Kim Reeves (husband Harry); grandchildren, Liea Hobson, Erica Santiago, Mandy Reeves, and Selena Reeves; daughter, Cynthia Hester (husband Jeffrey); grandchildren, Jeff Hester and Caroline Hester; 7 great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Gail Tooley and her church family.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 21st at 1:00PM at Kernersville Wesleyan Church, 930 N. Main Street, Kernersville, NC, with Rev. Leon Thompson officiating. Visitation will start at 12:00PM in the sanctuary at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville.
Family has requested donations be made in memory of Nellie directly to Liberty Hospice, 485 Veteran’s Way, Kernersville, North Carolina 27284.
