Herbert L. Hepplewhite passed away on July 8, 2025 at Inspira Medical Hospital in Mullica Hill, NJ.

Born on January 2, 1931, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Herb was the son of Lewis and Florence Hepplewhite. He graduated from Taylor High School in Taylor, PA, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Scranton. He also pursued additional studies at the Petroleum Laboratory at Penn State University before beginning his career at Mobil Research in Paulsboro, New Jersey.

Herb was deeply devoted to his wife, Madelyn, who passed away on April 1, 2010, and to their daughter, Susan. Herb and Madelyn were married on June 5, 1952, in Kirkwood, New York. Their loving partnership was the foundation of a life filled with family, friendship, and shared joys.

He will be remembered as a strong-willed, intelligent, and kind man — a beloved husband, father, friend, and mentor to many. Herb had a lifelong passion for golf, both as a player and a fan, and was a member of the Woodbury Country Club until its closing.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Madelyn. He is survived by his daughter, Susan, as well as several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Services will be private.

Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
