John Jay Hall

John Jay Hall, 87, passed away on July 6, 2025, in Loveland, Colorado. He was born on August 20, 1937 in Lebanon, Missouri.

The family moved from Missouri to Wichita, Ks which is where he grew up.  He graduated from Wichita East High School, class of 1955, which he always said was the “Best” graduating class!

He went to Vo-Tech classes, studying drafting and surveying.  With a love for all outdoors, he became a lifelong Professional Land Surveyor, becoming licensed in 6 states, including Alaska.  He started 2 Land Surveying companies, first in Wichita, Ks, and a second in his beloved Colorado.  He loved being in the mountains!

He married Patricia Cox on July 3, 1958, and they had 2 children, son Jay, and daughter Lori. John and Patricia were married over 50 years until Patricia’s passing in 2011.

Along with surveying, his second passion was slow-pitch softball. He was a Master slow pitch pitcher, playing the game for over 40 years! He and his teams traveled all over the Midwest playing tournaments, winning some, but mainly just having fun and enjoying the game! He made many lifelong friends along the way.

His other interests were fly fishing, vintage westerns, fishing shows, football and golf on tv, and Fox News 31 Denver.  Oh, and couldn’t miss Jeopardy at noon and 6 pm!

After a long career land surveying, he volunteered for several organizations driving golf cart shuttles for hospitals and the Larimer County Fair, and volunteered at the boat dock operations at Carter Lake with his buddy Gus! ( he truly loved being at the lake!)

He was a dedicated animal lover, and supported several animal organizations, and rescued several dogs from the Humane Society.

He loved a good steak, ice cold beer, a fine cigar with good conversation, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts! He also loved telling stories of his youth and growing up with relatives mostly gone.

Lastly, he enjoyed reading and talking about his all time favorite US president, Dwight D Eisenhower, and was a true American patriot!

He is preceded by his wife of over 50 years Patricia, daughter Lori Ellis, parents Kenneth E. Sr and Lucille Hall, step mom Anne, brother Kenneth E. Jr, and sister Caroline Sue.

Survived by his son Jay (Janel) Hall, grandchildren Traci Hall, Carly ( David ) Velasquez, Dante Ellis, Parker ( Danielle ) Landon, Kolby ( Noelle ) Landon, and great grandchild Ashe Landon. His faithful companion dog Lucy.  And many cousins, relatives, and friends.

Thank you to his wonderful neighbors and friends who helped him through the past few months- Rob and Penny, Doc and Jolene, Dave and Sheri, Ron and Mary, Chris and Alesha, Dottie, Myron, Angie, Amanda, and Kathy.

A Special Thank You to the Bristol Hospice that gave great care and comfort to Dad in his last months-Virginia, Joyce, Aly, Katie, Mica, Sharon, Ciera, and Chaplain Zach.

John was one of a kind, he’ll be greatly missed. Until we meet again, Love Ya!
