Marlane Rose Gallagher passed peacefully on July 16th after receiving the sacrament of the last rites. Marlane was born on her grandparents’ farm in Antler, ND to Walter and Rose Scheid. She grew up in St. Paul and New Ulm. Marlane worked as a supervisor at the telephone company in St. Paul until she married Emmit Gallagher in 1960. She was a skilled baker, a talented seamstress, and loved to cook for her family. Marlane was a devout Catholic; she expressed her love for the church by her steadfast commitment to various charities. Marlane organized funeral luncheons, served on committees for the Catholic Church, and sang in the Holy Spirit and St. Agnes Church Choirs. She spearheaded an impressive Holiday Gift program for 17 years, organizing a gift and meal drive for families in need. In retirement she enjoyed golf, bridge and dancing her favorite “step” whenever she had the opportunity.

She is survived by five children: Constance Michaud of Milwaukee, WI; David Gallagher of Inver Grove Heights: Kelly (Glen) Anderson of Beaverton, OR; Susan Gallagher of St. Paul, and JoAnn Gallagher of St. Paul; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and one sister, Sarita of North Dakota. Marlane is preceded in death by her husband Emmit, her sisters Joanne and Diane, and son-in-law Peter.

Visitation will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (2048 Hamline Ave. N., St. Paul) on Tuesday, July 22nd at 9am, followed by Mass at 10am.

Willwerscheid Funeral Home & Cremation Service - West-Heights

Since 1886, the Willwerscheid family has helped Saint Paul families navigate grief and plan funerals, cremation services, and life celebration services. Our business was started by John Adam Willwerscheid, a second generation American and father of eight over 100 years ago. While a lot has changed since then, our commitment to caring for families hasn't. We know that finding the right funeral home is important, and we are grateful that families continue to trust us to take care of their loved ones....
