Ronald Sauve
August 25th, 1938 - July 5th, 2025
Ronald Edward Sauve passed away at home July 5th, 2025 leaving his family saddened but with many fond memories of a life well lived. He was 87 years old and lived a life full of adventures, service and love for his family.
The skies called to him from an early age in Washington state where he grew up. It led him to join the Air Force where he earned his wings at Reese Air Force base in 1960. It was there he met his wife Norma and they soon started a family. His career as a pilot of KC 135 tankers took him around the USA and over seas as he served his country. After retiring from the Air Force he continued working for the government in Civil Service for many more years at Holloman AFB, White Sands Missile Range, and Kirtland AFB. He also did a three year rotation in Europe, one year in Italy and two years in Germany. He took full advantage of the location which appealed to his sense of adventure and traveled all over the continent with his family.
Ron had many hobbies. He had a keen interest in photography and videography, loved blue grass and brass band music, playing cards with family and friends, and going on cruises with Norma (he loved the buffets). He also really enjoyed building and always had a project going where he was adding rooms on to his house! After retirement his favorite activity was playing short stop on a Senior Softball team. Norma even joined in by being the scorekeeper. They spent many happy hours out on the fields.
Ron leaves behind his beloved wife Norma, daughter Brenda, brothers Emery, Allen, and Gerald, sister Jeanne, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son David and parents Ed and Jessie Sauve. His family and many friends will sorely miss his good humor, teasing, zest for life, and especially his love.
No flowers please, but donations may be made to American Cancer Society at cancer.org or Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
A memorial service will be held at Sandia Baptist Church: 9429 Constitution Ave NE, Albuquerque NM on August 9th at 10am.
