Maria Hollingsworth
August 2nd, 1951 - July 17th, 2025
Maria Hollingsworth (née Otero) passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 73. She was born on August 2, 1951, in Mexico to her beloved parents, Miguel and Ofelia Otero (née Cagle).
Maria met the love of her life, Edgar, 54 years ago, and from that moment on, their lives were intertwined in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and community.
A dedicated employee of AT&T for many years, Maria was known not only for her strong work ethic but also for her vibrant spirit and infectious joy. She had a deep passion for dancing and was proud to be a member of the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies, the Wisconsin Diamond Dancers, and the Wisconsin Generation Alive Dancers. Her love for movement and performance lit up every room she entered and brought joy to countless audiences.
Maria had a heart for service and was an active volunteer in her community. She gave her time generously to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and was deeply involved in dedicating herself to helping others. Her compassion extended far beyond borders—she personally supported several orphans in Mexico, offering them love and hope from afar.
Above all, Maria lived for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, filled with the rich aromas of traditional Mexican cuisine. She took great pride in passing down her recipes and culinary traditions to her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Maria will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Edgar, and her sons, Matthew (Louise), Joseph (Leanne), as well as her adoring grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Madison, and Mackenzie, mother Ofelia, Siblings; Ofelia (Matthew) Bondio and Steven Cagle. She also leaves behind many extended family members and a host of friends who were blessed by her kindness, joy, and unwavering love.
She was proceeded in death by her father Miguel and granddaughter Kendell.
A visitation in honor of Maria will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until the start of services at 5:00 p.m. at River Glen Church, Waukesha, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Easter Seals of Southeastern Wisconsin, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, or the Make-A-Wish Foundation, all causes close to Maria’s heart.
Her light, her laughter, and her love will live on in all who knew her.
