Ira Jack Babb Sr., age 81 of Kingsport, passed away from his earthly life on Friday, July 18, 2025. Jack was born on January 21, 1944, in Scott County, VA to William and Elva Babb. Jack bravely served his country during Vietnam. He served one tour, and his team was part of the “Big Red One”.
Jack enjoyed traveling, deep sea fishing, gambling and playing guitar. His sense of humor and kindness will be greatly missed.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kay Babb, Luke Babb, Perry Babb, Phillip Babb, and Leon Babb; sisters, Joyce Ann Bowser, Darlene Brunner, Ruth Arnold, Marlene Manis, Marcella Calvin, Brenda Babb, and Glenna Wheat; sons, Junior Babb, Billy Babb, and Anthony Babb; and daughter-in-law, Shannon Babb. Those left to cherish his memory are his great nephews, Hunter Barrett and wife Hannah, and Wyatt Barrett; great niece, Heather McNutt and husband, Sean; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Hunter Barrett officiating. A private graveside will be held at Ira Babb Cemetery.
