Joan Mavis Hungrige
February 27th, 1939 - July 14th, 2025
Joan Mavis Howart Hungrige, 86, of Yuba City, CA, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at Summerfield Memory Care Center in Yuba City, CA, after her loving family said their goodbyes.
Born February 27, 1939, in Farnham, NE, she was the daughter of Nicholas Conrad Howat and Margaret Alsey Parsons Howat.
Joan Mavis Howat Hungrige was the devoted wife, of George Kenneth Hungrige from June 8, 1963 until his passing on January 20, 2021. She was the mother of Brent Michael (Janine) Hungrige of Sutter, CA, Craig Steven (Jammie) Hungrige of Yuba City, CA, and Lorn Alan (Angela) Hungrige of Flowermound, TX. She was the grandmother to Devin Reed (Emma) Hungrige of Marysville, CA, Taylor Anne (Timothy) Bybee of Yuba City, CA, Sarah Kristine (Keenan) Lewis of Sacramento, CA, Brayden Conrad (Haeley) Hungrige of Rocklin, CA, Klara Emma Helena Hungrige of Flowermound, TX, and Logan Grant Hungrige of Davis, CA. She also had six great grandchildren. Joan is also survived by her sister Amelia (George) Lambert.
She was proceeded in death her father Nicholas Conrad Howat, and mother Margaret Alsey Parsons Howat.
She was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the US Navy where she met and married George Kenneth Hungrige. After serving as a nurse in the US Navy she continued working as a registered nurse.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, CA.
