Stephen Thomas Prater, born on December 26, 1989, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 35.

 

Stephen is survived by his mother, Joy Alene Blankenship, and his father, Carl Thomas Prater, along with his brothers, Brandon (Crystal) Torres and Dwane (Rachel) Auville. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Tyler Torres, Brianna Torres, Christian Auville, Kelsie Auville, and Jackson Auville.

 

Stephen had a remarkable way of loving those closest to him with his whole heart, especially children. His family cherishes every moment shared with him and will hold dear the countless memories of his kindness, laughter, and the immense love he poured into their lives.

 

A true Carolina Panthers fan, Stephen’s passion for his team brought him so much joy and connection with those around him. He also loved to grill and enjoy a good meal, always ready to gather family and friends together in simple moments that meant so much.

 

Stephen will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone blessed to have been part of his journey.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sardis Baptist Church, 1601 St Matthews Rd, Swansea, SC 29160. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am.

 

Pallbearers will be Brandon Torres, Dwane Auville, Tyler Torres, Bryan Brown, Jason McKissick, and Troy Harper.

 

Family and friends are invited to come together and celebrate Stephen’s life, in memory of his gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around him. Flowers may be sent to Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd, Lexington, SC 29073 in care of Stephen Prater.
