Jim married the love of his life, Phyllis Moe, on July 2, 1953, in Hibbing. Their union lasted an inspiring 71 years, filled with shared dreams, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Jim was a devoted husband who cherished his wife and their family. In April of 1953, shortly before his marriage, Jim joined the U.S. Army, where he served his country with honor and achieved the rank of Corporal.

Jim had a deep passion for music. He loved playing the guitar and harmonica and often filled the air with his joyful singing. His musical talent was a source of happiness not only for him but also for everyone who had the pleasure of hearing him play.
A Committal service will be held in Jim's honor on September 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery on US 53 in Saginaw, Minnesota where his and his wife’s ashes will be joined together.
