SYLVAN JESS MEDINA, 71, of Berthoud, Colorado, Passed away July 9, 2025.

 

Born in Denver, Colorado November 25, 1953, to Jess and Norma Medina.

Sylvan worked as a welder for several years. He worked seven years for the city of Lafayette, Public Works Department,

maintaining city streets. Other jobs included loading beverage trucks for distribution, cleaning RTD buses, Safeway bakery dept.,

U-Haul, and last 1 weeknight shift at Walmart Produce Dept. Sylvan retired by 2015.

 

Sylvan was an avid pool player in His younger days could be found in local dive bars, playing for $100 a stick.

Paying it forward helping a damsel in distress by giving a jump start to her car or changing the tire for a businessman on I-25, always ready to help.

Dog lover, Our first winter Sylvan rescued an abandoned Siberian Husky at the local gas station. She became our first fur-baby.

Cooking played a big part in Sylvan's life. Watched food shows and tried new recipes often putting his own spin on new dishes.

 He was privileged to enjoy a 7-course meal at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

 

A bit of a gambler enjoyed the Slot machines in Vegas, Deadwood, SD and of course here in Colorado, Black Hawk. So Many Scratch Tickets!

Took a scenic glider flight over Boulder, CO and a submarine ride in Cozumel. Is that still a gambler?

Traveled to Mexico many times, climbed to the top of the Chichen Itza Mayan ruins and snorkeled in Cozumel. Just plain relaxed in the Dominican Republic 

twice. 

 

Rest in Peace Sylvan, my Husband, my Lover, my Friend.

Survived by wife Barbara Jo, brothers Jim and John Medina and sister Patti Forbes. Nephews and Niece.

 

He was predeceased by his parents Jess and Norma, brother David, and niece Michelle Spencer.

Dogs Bonita, Mallory, and Piper.
