Hennon "Buster" Preston Miller

Hennon Preston Miller, known to his family and friends as Buster, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025.

Buster was born in Charleston, SC on January 13, 1942, to Henry Preston and Jeanette Christopher Miller. Growing up in Garco village he attended North Charleston public schools including North Charleston High School. During his early adulthood he worked in the Garco Mill. He went on to work as an insurance salesman, car salesman, bail bondsman, and carpet salesman. It was said he could sell ice to an Eskimo. As a young man, he loved to hunt and fish, and in his later years he enjoyed playing cards with friends, spending a lot of time on the golf course, and relaxing in his chair with his cats. As his health declined he enjoyed being doted on by his wife’s friends at their monthly card games and get togethers.

He was previously married to Karen Bolt and they had one son, Christopher Barton Miller.

Buster married Jennifer Whetstone Rogers on September 15, 1989. They enjoyed travelling all over the United States and Europe, as well as cruising all over the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and the waters around Alaska. Some of his fondest memories though were traveling to Tennessee to visit his grandchildren whom he was extremely proud.

He was an active member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Hollywood, SC. Through the many years of membership, he served the church on several committees, the Men’s Club, and was very active in his Sunday School class. During many of the church fundraisers you could find him stirring huge pots of spaghetti noodles and sauce.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Whetstone Miller; son, Christopher Barton Miller and wife Vickie; stepson John S. (Jay) Rogers, III and wife Sally; grandchildren Ian Christian Rogers and Kathryn Walker Rogers; brother Thomas Miller and wife Sally; sister-in-law Cathy Miller; sister-in-law Shellie Frances Whetstone; brother-in-law Marion J. (Joe) Whetstone, Jr and wife Phyllis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Preston, mother Jeanette, brother Robert L. (Robbie), and sister Ethel M. Port

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 12noon to 1:30pm, and the memorial service will follow at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 5412 Highway 165, Hollywood, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
