Alfred "Al" H Briere, Jr.
August 2nd, 1948 - June 27th, 2025
It's not goodbye, it's see you later.
Alfred "Al" Briere Jr. quietly passed away on June 27, 2025 at the age of 76, after a brief illness.
Born August 2,1948 in Putnam CT. Al was the son of Blanche and Alfred Briere, Sr.
Al served his country with honor and loyalty, by joining the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and later enlisting in the Army Reserves. His time in the military prepared him well for civilian work where he spent many years as a foreman for various companies.
Before retiring, he enjoyed traveling the United States in his motorhome discovering nearly every state and visiting family as well. He had a fondness for visiting casinos, not so much for the winnings, which to his dismay were rare, but for the thrill of trying and the people he met along the way. A favorite place of his was Henderson, Nevada, which was his home away from home, where he spent cherished time with his niece and her husband. He also loved playing cards especially when it meant spending time with family and sharing a laugh. Above all, his greatest passion was reading books. A pastime that brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his sisters Blanche Bernier, Marie Truppa and husband Carmine, Ann Briere and Lea Rzeznikiewicz and husband Eddie, and by his brothers Richard Briere, Albert Briere and Emil Briere and wife Cathy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Rose Deteau Brown and Catherine Deteau, brother William Deteau, sister-in-law Linda Briere, brother-in-law Michael Bernier and special nephew-in-law, Tim Tucker.
A private family service will be held in accordance with his wishes.
