  • Samuel Tokuo Mori, age 88, of Fruitland, Idaho, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025.   Sam was born on November 18, 1936, in Portland, Oregon, to Ted and Jane Kyono Mori. Sam was raised in Hillsboro on the family Strawberry Farm. During World War II, Sam and his family were relocated to theMinidoka Internment Camp in Hunt, Idaho. After the war, they resettled in Ontario, Oregon, where they rebuilt their lives and established deep roots in the community.   He graduated from Ontario High School in 1954, then went on to attend Boise Junior College, earning an associate degree in Engineering in 1956. Shortly after, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country from 1956 to 1958.   Following his honorable discharge, Sam returned home to help manage and eventually take over the family farm in Ontario, Oregon. After many years as a bachelor, Sam married the love of his life, Juanita, on December 15, 1974. With that union, he became a devoted husband, father, and grandfather — roles he embraced with deep love and dedication. Together, they celebrated 50 years of marriage.   Over the years, Sam also gave back to his community by serving on numerous boards, including the Farmers Supply Co-op and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and also generously gave his time helping at Cairo Elementary School. He was also a member of JACL and always helped with the Ontario Community United Methodist Church Bazar.   Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Mori; daughters Janie Mori (Mike Van Patten) of New Plymouth, Idaho; Lisa (Lonnie) Roach of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Bobbie Beesley of Weiser, Idaho; and Doreen (Terry) Fife of Lynden, Washington. He also leaves behind numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Jane Mori; his brother, David Mori; his son-in- law, Clayton Beesley; and grandsons TJ Fife and Bryant Roach. A funeral service will be held at Lienkaemper-Thomason Funeral Chapel in Ontario, Oregon, on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 10:30a.m., followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, also in Ontario.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Snake River JACL Scholarship Program, P.O. Box 637, Ontario, OR 97914.   Sam will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel-Ontario

For over 100 years, the Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel has served the Ontario, Oregon, community with professional, compassionate care. Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
