Patricia "Patty" Barnes
August 31st, 1962 - July 24th, 2025
Patricia Handy (Patty) Barnes of Warner Robins, Georgia went to be with her Lord on July 24, 2025 at Emory Hospital in Warner Robins, GA. Born on August 31, 1962 in Darlington, South Carolina. Patty was well loved in her community. She was beautiful, sweet, and generous. She was a wonderful wife, grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt, cousin, and niece. She left a lasting impact on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Patty's life revolved around her deep love for her family and friends. She was a devoted Christian and served as a guiding light throughout her journey. Married to the love of her life, John Barnes, in 1993 was devoted military wife and friend to her husband. Patty shared love and laughter in their time together.
Patty was preceded in death by her beloved Sheltie, daughter, Samantha, parents: Stephen and Margaret (Joyce) Handy of Warner Robins, GA. In addition, she is also preceded in death by her father in law, Ronald Barnes of Belvidere, IL and Harriette Barnes, of Loveland, Co.
She leaves behind her devoted spouse John Barnes; sister, Sharon (Jon) Bailey, brother in law, Jeff (Jane Smith) Barnes of Loveland, Co and Brad Barnes of Hales Corner, WI. She also leaves behind four nephews, a niece and several great nephews and nieces.
She retired from the Warner Robins Police Department and the Houston County Sherriff's Department as a crossing guard for 34 years. She loved the kids and enjoyed getting the kids safely across the street so they could get their education. She also served under the Houston County Board of Education, working in the Warner Robins High School Lunch room as a food assistant and cashier for almost 40 years. She always loved interacting with the kids ensuring they were well nourished.
She requested to be cremated and declined a funeral. A memorial service will be planned in either the last half of August of the first half of September at Calvary Chapel Heartland in Fort Valley, Georgia.
