Joe (Sef) Seferino Lucero passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 16, 2025, at the age of 72 in Santa Fe, NM. Born on March 1, 1953, Joe dedicated 40 years to his career as a heavy equipment mechanic. His expertise extended beyond his professional life, often assisting family and friends with their small engine mechanical needs, showcasing his generous spirit and knack for problem-solving.Joe was a man of many passions, including fishing, camping, barbecuing, and enjoying music and dancing.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, where his presence added fun and laughter to every gathering.He was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication, profoundly impacting his family, friends, and community. Joe's compassionate nature made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.Joe is survived by his daughters, Lynda Benavidez, Monica Montoya, and Valerie Lovato; grandchildren Roman Duran, Christopher Morales, Delilah Lovato, and Aurora Montoya; great-grandchildren Joeziah Lucero, Izzabella Morales, and Angel Morales; and his sister Della (Afonso) Esquibel, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Ignacita Lucero, all his 7 brothers, two sisters, and his grandson Cody Morales. Joe's life was a profound example of service to others, a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by his loving family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
