Born June 7th, 1943, Lawrence, Massachusetts (Barbara Jean Pacheco)

Passed peacefully alongside her family at home in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Eugene Pacheco and Mildred Pacheco (Cook) of Andover, Ma.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband Leighton Porter of Hilton Head Island, Her Sons Brian Porter (Wife Janet Porter) of Chelmsford, Ma., Jason Porter (Suzie Porter) of Shrewsbury, Ma., Daughter (And Best Friend) Jennifer Caprioli (Husband Lou Caprioli) of Hilton Head Island, S.C., her brother David Pacheco (Wife Ann Pacheco) of Nashua, NH. Her grandchildren Lauren Porter and Colin Porter of Chelmsford, Ma., and Brooke Porter of Worcester, Ma., Nieces Beth Dondero, Jane Stuart, Robin Pacheco (Angel) and Karen Porter, Nephews David Pacheco, Jeff Pacheco and Adam Porter. Brother-In-Law John Porter (Wife Deborah Porter).

Barbara graduated from Andover High School in 1961 and immediately started working at Elm Farm Foods where she would meet her future husband Leighton in 1962 as co-workers. They would marry one year later on December 14, 1963, in Andover, Ma., which would coincide with the hit song “Oh what a night” by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.

She would devote herself to her family from 1965 through 1980 by raising her three children in Methuen, Ma., and Hanover, Ma.

The family then Moved to Chelmsford, Ma. In 1980, when with her children grown up, she decided to return to a working career at First Bank as a teller. She would continue her career in banking, where she would eventually retire from Enterprise Bank as Vice President.

Barbara would make many, many friends wherever she lived and worked in Methuen, Hanover, Chelmsford and Hilton Head Island. She loved her time visiting her large extended Pacheco family. She loved her time with Annie, Jeanie, Sue, Shirley, Sandy, Paul and Ginger Gere, Fran and Arthur Farmer, Don and Barbara Bethman and Jay and Chris Moore. We can’t express enough that even putting names here was difficult. We know that if it was up to her this list would have run pages long. We’re sorry if we missed you here.

Barbara’s hobbies were expansive, but she loved fishing, golfing, tennis, reading, puzzles, gambling, playing every card game known to mankind and traveling.

Barbara donated her time and money to various charities especially St.Judes, Good Samaritans and Tunnel to Towers.

She believed in her “angels” and would call upon them for prayers, well wishes, luck and guidance. Now she will forever be our angel.

This is the last thing she wrote to her children:

“What do I leave?”

Is it something I said or something I read?

Is it a smell from something cooling on the stove when they come home from school or play?

Is it when we went fishing on a sunny day?

Is it a scary movie or a comedy that we enjoyed?

Or when we told family stories at the dinner table every night?

Whatever they remember, whatever might trigger a thought of the past, I hope they smile and know how much love I had for them; each and every second we had to share.
