Stanley "Stan" Potter
September 14th, 1940 - July 20th, 2025
Stanley “Stan” Potter passed away on July 20, 2025. He was born to Jackson and Dorothy Potter on September 14, 1940, in Flint, MI. Stan graduated from East Grand Rapids High School and Michigan State University. After college, Stan went to work for his father at Potter Distributing in Grand Rapids, MI and eventually became the president of the company until his retirement in 1996, when his wife, Sharon, and he moved to Moss Creek in Hiton Head, SC.
Stan served 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserves and became an active member of the Moss Creek Marines, where he was responsible for packing and shipping hundreds of boxes to our active Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. For many years, he spent his mornings delivering for Meals on Wheels. Stan took an active role at Providence Presbyterian Church and served as an usher and a member of the finance committee.
He loved the outdoors and hunted and fished most of his life. In his retirement, he enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing, crabbing, boating, playing poker, and was involved with the Nature Club. He extremely loved birds and built countless blue bird houses for Old Field and many friends of Moss Creek. Stan will always be remembered for his jovial and infectious laugh, his love for telling jokes and his LOVE for life.
Stan was an extremely loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his wife Sharon of 61 years; his daughter Terrie Potter (Dave Delach); his son David; grandsons, Jake and Matthew Gadomski; his granddaughter Riley Potter and two younger brothers, Douglas and Dennis Potter.
