Edeltraud "Trudy" Lux
June 9th, 1939 - July 16th, 2025
Edeltraud Lux, endearingly called Trudy, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born in 1939 in Wienau, Schlesien—now part of modern-day Poland—Trudy was the daughter of Johann and Hedwig Schwientek. Her early life was marked by profound resilience; following the death of her father during World War II, Trudy, her mother, and her two sisters, Erika and Irmgardt, fled their home in Wienau. They resettled in West Germany in 1945.
Trudy spent her formative years in Aschaffenburg, Germany, where she built a new life amid the challenges of post-war Europe. In 1960, she met an American serviceman, Ronald Lux. They were married in Germany in 1961 and began a new chapter together in the United States shortly thereafter.
Trudy and Ron welcomed their daughter, Dianna Lux, in 1961, and their son, Michael Lux, in 1963. Trudy cherished her role as a mother and dedicated herself to raising a loving family.
Trudy was a kind soul who made countless efforts to ensure the people she loved were safe, healthy, and well-nurtured. Her quiet strength and unwavering support were the foundation of her family’s life.
She had a remarkable ability to bring people together and help them stay connected—whether across cities, continents, or generations. Her thoughtfulness and hospitable nature made everyone feel welcome, and her steady care helped maintain the bonds of family and friendship through time and distance.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures; knitting, cooking, and tending to her garden. Trudy expressed her love through care, patience, and endless helpings of homemade spaghetti sauce and banana bread.
Trudy is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Dianna Setzke (née Lux), and by her sister Erika Uhlein.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Lux; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rebekah Lux; her grandsons, Austin and Jeremy Lux; her granddaughter and husband, Tiffany Forste (née Setzke) and Jon Forste; and her great-grandchildren, Avaliene and Lucas Forste. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Ulrike Oesthushenrich and Irmgardt Jones.
Trudy’s story is one of courage, love, and the enduring bonds of family. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
