Durward D. “Dean” Nimmo, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 25, 2025.Dean was born on October 17, 1932, in Durand, Wisconsin, to Alexander J. Nimmo and Amanda M. (née Stankey) Nimmo. On July 9, 1955, he married the love of his life, Janice (Lokken), and together they celebrated an incredible 70 years of marriage. Their life together was blessed with four wonderful children: Sheri, Susan, Daniel, and Mary.Dean was truly one of a kind—the best person on earth, known for his sense of humor, gentle heart, and the joy he brought to those around him. He was the kind of man who made everyone feel welcome, cherished, and loved. A favorite uncle and dear friend to many, he had an unforgettable presence—to know him was to love him.Dean spent many dedicated years working in underground construction with Globe Contractors and was a proud member of the Wisconsin Laborers Union Local 113. He and Janice were long-standing members of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha, where they built a strong and faithful community.A man of many hobbies, Dean found joy in golfing, bowling, Dartball, gardening, woodworking, and fixing just about anything. He had a knack for making things work, a passion for sharing his skills with others, and he truly treasured a good conversation.Dean is survived by his beloved wife Janice and their children: Sheri Nimmo-Watkis, Susan (Mark) Fitzsimons, Daniel Nimmo, and Mary (Paul) Sonderegger. He was a proud grandfather to Erin (Jeremy) Swanson, Amanda (Cameron) Behl, James (Jennifer) Fitzsimons, Alexander Watkis, Glendyn Watkis, Morgan Sonderegger, and Robyn Sonderegger. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Amelia, Benjamin, Emma, Elizabeth, and Clara. He is further survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ivan, and sisters Irma and Fern.A visitation to honor Dean’s life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home (237 N. Moreland Blvd, Waukesha, WI 53188). A second visitation will take place at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (424 Hyde Park Ave, Waukesha, WI 53188) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon with light refreshments will follow. Burial at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Dean’s memory to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or The Waukesha food pantry FOOD Pantry of Waukesha County - Ending hunger starts here.Dean’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
