All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
John R. Torres
March 20th, 1938 - July 13th, 2025
John R. Torres, of Westminster, Colorado, was born in Sugar City, CO to Bonifacio Torres and Frances (Martinez) Torres. He passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. John was a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend to those with whom he shared his life. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith in God, his love and devotion to family, his passion for his Hispanic culture, and the great Colorado outdoors.
John was a wildlife biologist and retired as Wildlife Regional Manager, from the Colorado Division of Wildlife after 32 years. He was commended by the Director of the DOW for spearheading a nongame program and initiating new statutes and regulations, as well as creating a nongame advisory council. These accomplishments set a new national standard for nongame wildlife management. John was also committed to promoting cultural diversity in the Division and took on a leadership role in affirmative action.
Following retirement, John spent 9 winters in Manzanillo Mexico with his beloved wife, Dolores, “Dee.” Six years before retiring, John and Dee broke ground on their Larimer County log cabin near Estes Park. Together with his “three” sons: Jack, Brian, and son-in-law, Einer “Ogy,” the cabin was finished and roofed and made ready to be christened by family, friends, and the abundant love and fellowship that was shared and celebrated throughout the past 35 years. His presence is everywhere on this land, and his legacy will be treasured and carried forward by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and future generations. We rejoice in the life of our beloved patriarch and pioneer, and praise God for the assurance that John is in His eternal kingdom with many beloved family members who went before him, especially his beloved wife, Dee, and his youngest son, Brian.
John is survived by his children, Jack Torres (Michaelann), Lisa Torres-Peterson (Einer - deceased); his grandchildren: Sabrina Moon, Courtney Torres (Derrick), Colbey, Carli (David), & Cherise “Reesie” Peterson, Benjamin, Braeden, & Bria Torres; great grandchildren: Brooklyn Weaver and Cayden Einer & Camden Gregory Boothe. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores, and son, Brian.
