Nellie Fern Kelley, 102, a former 49-year resident of Iola, Kansas, passed away on

July 23, 2025 at Brookdale North, Assisted Living Facility, Loveland, CO.

Nellie was born on November 7, 1922 on a farm near Garnett, KS, the daughter of Walter and Lochia (Hart) Pugsley. She graduated from Kincaid High School in 1940. She married Charles Merle Kelley on July 17, 1945 at Welda, KS. They lived briefly in San Diego CA while Charles was in the Navy before moving to Garnett KS, Kansas City, KS and eventually settling in Iola. KS in 1963. In 2012, Nellie moved to North Las Vegas, NV. In 2017, she moved to Loveland, CO.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles in 1995, sisters Nina Hodgson, Ina Bea Stewart, Lola Guren; one brother, Homer Pugsley, and one granddaughter.

Survivors include her sons, Dennis Kelley, Bennington KS, Richard Kelley, North Las Vegas NV, and Terrence Kelley, Loveland CO; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two step grandchildren.

Inurnment will take place at Highland Cemetery, Iola Kansas, at a later date.
