John sailed to the horizon on the evening of July 25, 2025, to greet the sunset and discover all those who awaited his arrival from the other shore. A peaceful, soulful, intricate man with a passion for his family, food, cooking, greeting everyone, the Giants and his Red Sox not to mention the Bruins. John always knew the heart was home, eternally grateful for Mom and Dad’s love, warmth, support, encouragement and patience. His focus recently was providing a comfortable, warm and inspiring environment in his backyard for his family to gather by the fire, chat, bond and become closer.

The cynic wonders where he is now, the believer knows John’s heart led him there. John would go out of his way to stop for those “less fortunate”, without homes, alcoholics, penniless, in need of conversation or just a good word and possibly a sandwich or home cooked meal or maybe 20 bucks. They all received a recipe that included a piece of John’s soulful big heart. He didn’t consider them or those people, the right or left, upper class or lower class, recent arrivals or 18th generation, dark to light skin or any color in between, fit to rule or humble, kings and queens or peasants; he just believed we should all be kind to everyone.

John’s adventure began in Granby CT, born 10/29/69 to Mary Jo and Bob Lindgren (both deceased). He arrived eight years after the first four kids were born, Rich, Lorrie (Glover-deceased), Bobby (deceased), Michael, all within five years of each other. The journey included Granby public schools, Cardigan Mountain School, Berkshire Academy (star athlete at both schools), Eastern CT State College and South Florida State College. He loved his life on Marco Island selling real estate, fishing, golfing, cooking/smoking/grilling and this is where he met his loving and devoted wife, Jamie. They created a home together and then welcomed their two amazing, smart, talented, beautiful children, Palen (16) and Ella (15). Eventually moving to Chapin, SC four years ago, they replanted their homestead next to Lake Murray. The girls are in high school and beginning to plan for their futures, thinking about college and success beyond.

There are no immediate plans for services. When it is the right time, an announcement will be published. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we ask you to consider making a contribution to an account that will be split between Palen’s and Ella’s 529 College Education Funds. All monies collected will be matched by John’s loving brothers, Rich and Michael.
