Agnes Fore

Agnes Fore (Agnes Lystra Congleton), age 91, of Surgoinsville, TN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2025. She was born in Kinston North Carolina on May 11, 1934, to Joseph and Theenie Congleton. Agnes will be remembered as a talented musician, serving in several churches as minister of music, directing choirs and personally teaching students piano and voice; a gift that lives on. She also had a love for cooking, her family and friends referred to her as the best cook that ever lived. Her family and friends especially loved her cinnamon rolls, turkey and dressing, and her special dessert known as “That Cake”. Agnes had a deep love for her family and will be remembered for her spiritual wisdom and guidance that came from a continued walk with God.

In addition to her parents Agnes is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Joseph Arthur Fore; son David Fore; and daughter Suzanne Rimer.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Joe Fore and Matt Fore; grandchildren Jeremy, Adam, Christy, Lindsey, Brittany, D.J. Stephanie, and Josh; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as 10 nieces and nephews; but of all the descendants her niece Hannah shared Agnes’s kindness and ability to hold the family together.
