"Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely." ~ Psalm 147:1

Kenneth Edgar “Eddie” Pearcy Jr., 61, passed peacefully at his home on July 30, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.  Eddie was born on September 22, 1963, in Kingsport, TN to K.E. “Peanut” and Marjorie Pearcy.  On November 18, 1983, Eddie married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Berry, and after 41 years of a beautiful life together, she survives.

Eddie was raised at the end of Beeline Road in Scott County where he helped his father work the family farm, manage a general store, and run a mobile home park that he would eventually own and operate.  It was at Rye Cove High School (Class of 1981) where he met Vicki.  As teenagers they attended Red Hill Memorial Church which led to a lifetime of faithful service.  He served in multiple roles over the past 44 years including sitting on the Board of Directors, coordinating music at Share the Blessing, lending his voice to Christmas dramas, teaching Singing School, and leading other church activities.  His favorite role was singing praises to his Savior as Choir Director, a position he held until his passing.

After his high school graduation and marriage to Vicki, he was employed by the Kingsport Times News where he was a Circulation District Manager.  Eddie resigned in 2003 in pursuit of higher education at the age of 40.  He earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing and worked at Holston Valley Medical Center for a total of 17 years with a majority of those as an ICU Registered Nurse.  Following his tenure at Holston Valley, he worked as a home health nurse serving Lee, Wise, and Scott counties.

While his work ethic was unmatched, his true joy was not found in his occupations, it was his family and the home he and Vicki built.  He could often be found outside at the cabin that Adam and Brian helped him build, working in the garden, or tinkering in his garage.  He did not view a new project as a burden, but as a chance to teach his sons and grandchildren the value of hard work.  As hard as he worked, there was always time made for summer vacations and quality family time.  The challenges Eddie and Vicki faced were met with a devotion that allowed them to withstand the trials of life and forge a wonderful marriage.  Of all his family, the three who called him Papaw were his soft spot.  Papaw always had candy, a song, and a new project for his grandbabies, whom he cherished.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Billy Ray Berry.  Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his devoted wife, Vicki Berry Pearcy; two sons, Adam Pearcy and his wife, Ashlyn, and Brian Pearcy; three grandchildren, Chandler Reese, Ellie Ray, and Lynden Rose; mother-in-law, Patricia Berry; sister, Judy Eldridge; and many friends and other family members.

The family would like to thank all those who visited during Eddie’s illness.  They would also like to thank Dr. Grover and the health care team at Holston Valley ICU and MSA hospice.  Special thanks to Dr. Miller for her compassion, love, and care over the last few years; and finally, the family would like to thank all the individuals who stepped up and helped with the on-going projects around the home.

The family will receive friends at Red Hill Memorial Church, located at 4202 Purchase Ridge Road, Duffield, VA from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

A funeral service will follow with Pastor Robert Slone officiating and special music will be provided by the Red Hill Memorial Choir.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA at 11:00 am.  Adam Pearcy, Brian Pearcy, Jim Richmond, Steve Rimer, Terry Gilliam, and Gene Jones will be serving as pallbearers.  Guy Tignor and Chandler Pearcy will be serving as honorary pallbearers.  Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
