Glenda Fay Loghry

 January 22, 1940 – July 28, 2025

Glenda Fay Loghry (née Auxier), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.

Born on January 22, 1940, to Willie and Ellen Auxier, Glenda grew up in Springfield, Oregon — the community she would lovingly call home for her entire life. She was a proud graduate of the University of Oregon, earning her degree in education in 1964. Glenda went on to serve generations of students during her career in the Springfield School District, retiring in 1997 after more than three decades of teaching with care and compassion.

On February 14, 1959, Glenda married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Ira Joe Loghry. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and adventure. They raised three children, Debbie, Rhonda, and Brad and were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of Glenda’s life.

Glenda’s heart was fullest when she was surrounded by her family. She was a constant and joyful presence at every birthday, graduation, sporting event, and dance recital, never missing a moment to cheer on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her quiet strength, warm hugs, and gentle encouragement touched the lives of all who knew her.

A passionate traveler, Glenda found joy in exploring the world. From nearly all 50 U.S. states to Canada, China, Australia, and many countries across Europe, her adventures were as vibrant and far-reaching as her spirit.

Glenda was also a devoted member of the First Christian Church of Springfield, where she was deeply involved in church life and community outreach. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and her kindness, humility, and servant heart were evident in all she did.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Joe Loghry; her children, Debbie, Rhonda, and Brad; her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Ken Auxier as well as many nieces and nephews.

Glenda leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and quiet grace. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, former students, and all who were lucky enough to know her.

A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held at [insert location, date, and time if known].

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the First Christian Church of Springfield or to a local school foundation in honor of Glenda’s lifelong passion for education.
