Obituary for Helen Coppin (née Rankin). It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Helen Coppin's passing on July 26, 2025, in Tucson, AZ. Born on June 12, 1946, in Mineola, NY, Helen lived a vibrant life full of adventure, laughter, and an endless love for those around her.

Helen was a beloved daughter to Josephine E. "Collins" Rankin and Donald L. Rankin; a dear sister to Barbara Rankin; a loving wife to Tedd W. Coppin; and loved cousins John Miller and Neil Miller, all of whom precede her in death. She is lovingly remembered by her cousin Johanne Hendrickson and family, and her cherished god-daughters, Alicia Montoya and Katrine Cesario, god-son, Crow Garrett, along with their families. Helen was also a true friend to many, and her sociable spirit shone brightly in her relationships, from her lifelong friends to her adored cat, Sally.

A proud graduate of Garden City High School and an alumna of Pima Community College, Helen spent her career in the medical field and even brought her vibrant personality to Old Tucson Studios and Florida Universal Studios during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. A passion marked her career for assisting others and a flair for the performing arts.

Helen cherished the great outdoors and loved to travel, exploring incredible places like Alaska, Long Island, San Francisco, Florida, the Galapagos, and Hawaii. She delighted in showcasing Arizona's beauty to anyone who visited, with trips to the Grand Canyon, Kitt Peak, and the Pima Air Museum being favorites. Some of her other passions included playing a mean game of Scrabble, knitting and crocheting blankets for children in need, and diving into a good book—she was an avid reader and lifelong learner.

Her warm and kind spirit was complemented by her honesty, loyalty, and tireless energy for life. Whether camping with friends, drawing, or absorbing the magic of Tucson's symphonies and musicals, Helen had a zest for life that inspired everyone around her. Helen leaves behind the vibrant legacy of her charitable spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity that holds special meaning to you. Helen herself supported many causes close to her heart, including the Pima County Animal Control Center, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Native American children's causes, and Chicanos por la Causa.

As we celebrate her life, we remember a woman whose love and kindness touched so many. Helen will be missed dearly, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
