Yolanda Gallagher
January 9th, 1933 - July 26th, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Yolanda Gallagher, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on July 26, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She was born on January 9, 1933, in Bucaramanga, Colombia, South America, into the loving arms of her parents, Maruja Ordoñez and Jorge Garcia. Yolanda was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Roberto Garcia and Alvaro Garcia. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Jaime Garcia and Marietta Korgi, as well as her devoted husband, Richard Gallagher. Yolanda's legacy continues through her daughter, Vivian Wilsey, and her grandchildren: Clay, Jake, and Grace Wilsey.
After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Colombia, Yolanda dedicated her life to the service of others. She began her career as a teacher in her native Colombia before moving to the United States, where she ran a home daycare and served as a social worker for the Juvenile Welfare Board. Her impact on those who crossed her path was profound, as she devoted herself to nurturing young minds and aiding families within her community. Yolanda was known for her kindness and generosity, transcending the role of a friend to become a family member to those around her.
Her deep-rooted Catholic faith guided her life, embodying principles of love, compassion, and selflessness. She was a devoted member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, where she contributed her time and effort to the St. Raphael Council of Catholic Women. Her unwavering faith and quiet strength inspired many, illuminating her surroundings with warmth.
A memorial mass in Yolanda's honor will be held on Saturday, August 9th, at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we invite family and friends to join us in honoring the legacy of this incredible woman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Regina Health Center in Richfield, Ohio, or Joseph’s Home in Cleveland, Ohio, organizations that reflect her giving spirit and commitment to helping others in need.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing she is in a better place and at peace. Yolanda's legacy lives on in all of us—in our love, in our care for others, and in our commitment to choosing kindness every day. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
